Lono Ho'ala was born Arthur Costello, to ranching and business people who lived high in the Colorado Rockies.
He is an accomplished biochemist, researcher, author, counselor, and teacher who has spent his life mastering how ancient cultures approached the art of wisdom.
Lono's life path took a major turn in the spring of 1982 when he was 34 years old. He was in a flooded crawlspace under his home when he was caught in the grip of 30 amps of electricity powered by 220 volts from an electric hot water heater that had shorted out in the water.
When his 'lifeless' body was pulled from under the house his back was broken in 4 places, and his hips, shoulder joints, heart and brain were all severely damaged. He was eventually revived, only to suffer intense grand mal seizures that re-fractured his back over and over.
Lono experienced a second NDE several years later when the electrical damage to his heart caused him to suffer a heart attack. Both times Lono experienced events that changed his life.
Now, through him, many others are finding the help it takes to heal their lives as well. Thousands of people have experienced first hand the inspired message Lono brings back to this 'life' from the other side of the veil.
Lono is one of the most popular guest speakers on the national circuit for the International Association of Near-Death Studies (IANDS.)

Lono's Healing Work
Over the last 25 years, Lono has helped thousands of people heal their bodies, spirits, families, and communities. He is a clear and grounded sage who can express profound spiritual truth in terms anyone can understand. His HUNAWISDOM teachings are both powerful and effective because they take us directly to the deepest parts of ourselves where we find freedom from fear and the true meaning of our lives.
Lono's Resume Lono began his career with four years at a Benedictine monastery where he studied to be a priest. During that time he became fascinated by the Dead Sea Scrolls and other ancient religious texts, and became a recognized expert at the origin and development of Christianity and the Judaic Christian tradition.
After the monastery Lono went to the University of Colorado where he mastered in biochemistry and eventually entered their medical program. After two years he realized he was not cut out to practice western-style medicine because it is not "holistic" enough for him. However, from that time forward he has continued his study of physics, chemistry, biochemistry, pathology, herbs and other nutraceutical ingredients and their effects on metabolic pathways.
After completing his formal education Lono also became interested in water. His background in chemistry combined with a short but successful career building homes allowed him to engineer water treatment systems for homes to entire community water systems.
When Lono left medical school he got a contractor's license and began building homes. His contracting work led him to get a real estate broker's license, followed by an insurance broker's license, and eventually Series 7, 24, and 27 securities broker's licenses. He wrote a series of 12 courses in financial planning called "The Asset Management Program" which was eventually approved by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges for 3 hours of college credit. He became one of the developers of E. F. Hutton Financial Services, the first true group of professionals specializing in financial planning. Lono served as Chief Economist and Due-Diligence Officer for a Newport Beach California firm known as AmeriTrust Financial Serves, and began a radio program syndicated out of Salt Lake City Utah called "Money Talk."
It was in the middle of his financial services career that Lono suffered the electrical accident that changed his life. After the accident Lono was in very poor physical shape. Doctors had him on a variety of anti-seizure medications and painkillers, but his condition did nothing but deteriorate. That is when Lono decided to use natural medicine to heal his body. These methods worked. He stopped all medications and began a path of natural healing that restored his body to a condition none of his doctors believed would ever be possible.
Lono's Hawai'ian Connection
After his two near-death experiences Lono moved to Hawai'i where he encountered members of an ancient priesthood clan known as the Mo'o Kahuna. These people were amazed at his knowledge of their ancient system of wisdom and honored him for his ability to both understand and apply its principles.
These mysterious people revealed secrets about their ancient culture and history that are virtually unknown in the west, and poorly understood even by most modern Hawai'ians. It is a story that challenges most conventional ideas about who the Hawai'ians are, where they came from, and the culture they enjoyed prior to 1,250 AD when an invasion from Tahiti replaced their enlightened society with the bloodthirsty reign of the Ali'i.
As a mark of their respect for his expertise the Mo'o ordained Lono Kahuna Kupua A'o (Master Teacher of Light) and gave him his new name that he keeps in honor of the sacred trust that he formed with these people.
